AI visibility tools cost from $29 to $599 a month for their cheapest paid plan, on vendor pages checked October 28, 2026: Otterly.AI's Lite at the bottom, Gauge's Growth at the top, and Profound with no public price at all. Most charge per prompt. The fair comparison is the price per 1,000 answers, which varies more than tenfold.

That last number is the one this post is built around. A plan's price tells you little until you know how many answers it buys: one prompt, asked once, on one AI model, is one answer.

## AI visibility tools pricing at a glance

Each tool's cheapest paid plan, billed monthly, from its own pricing page. "Answers a month" is the vendor's own figure where it gives one; otherwise prompts × AI models × 30 days, marked with an asterisk.

| Tool | Cheapest paid plan | Prompts | AI models on that plan | Answers a month | Per 1,000 answers |
| --- | --- | ---: | --- | ---: | ---: |
| Otterly.AI | Lite, $29 | 15 | 4: ChatGPT, AI Overviews, Perplexity, Copilot | 1,800* | about $16 |
| HubSpot AEO | $50 | 25 | 3: ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity | 2,250* | about $22 |
| Ahrefs Brand Radar | Prompt package, from $50 | | AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot | 2,500 checks | $20 |
| AIclicks | Starter, $59 | 30 | 3 you pick | 4,650 | about $13 |
| LLMrefs | All in One, $79 | 500 | Every one it supports | Weekly, not stated | |
| SE Visible | Basic, €80 | 75 | ChatGPT, Gemini, AI Mode, AI Overviews named | about 11,250 | about €7 |
| Picked | Starter, $89 | 50 | 2 you pick from 6 | 3,000* | about $30 |
| Peec AI | Starter, $95 (€85) | 50 | 3 you pick | 4,500 | about $21 |
| Surfer | AI Search Analytics, $95 | 50 | 5 | Not stated | |

| AthenaHQ | Starter, $295 | Credits | 11 | 3,600 | about $82 |
| Goodie | Core, $295 | 110 | 5 | Not stated | |
| Gauge | Growth, $599 | 600 | 3: ChatGPT, AI Mode, Copilot | 54,000 | about $11 |
| Profound | Enterprise, custom | Custom | Up to 9 | Custom | |

\* If every prompt runs daily on every model of the plan.

The cheapest plan and the cheapest answer are different tools. Otterly.AI's $29 plan buys about $16 of answers per 1,000; Gauge's $599 plan buys them at about $11. SE Visible, at about €7 per 1,000, is the lowest in this table. AthenaHQ is the highest, at about $82.

Three caveats before you sort by the last column. Writesonic, AIclicks, Gauge, Goodie and AthenaHQ bundle articles or content work into the price, so the per-answer figure overstates what their tracking costs. LLMrefs checks weekly, not daily, so its 500 prompts aren't comparable with a daily 500. And a figure only counts what a vendor states: where a page leaves a number out, so does the table.

## What do bigger plans cost?

Agencies and teams with several products usually land around 150 prompts. At that size the order changes again:

| Plan | Price a month | Prompts | AI models | Answers a month | Per 1,000 answers |
| --- | ---: | ---: | ---: | ---: | ---: |
| SE Visible Core | €169 | 200 | as Basic | about 30,000 | about €5.60 |
| AIclicks Pro | $189 | 150 | 4 | 18,600 | about $10 |
| Picked Growth | $199 | 150 | 3 | 13,500* | about $15 |
| Otterly.AI Standard | $189 | 100 | 4 | 12,000* | about $16 |
| Peec AI Pro | $245 (€205) | 150 | 3 | 13,500 | about $18 |

At the top end, Picked Scale is $499 for 350 prompts on 4 models (about $12 per 1,000), Peec AI Advanced is $495 for 350 prompts on 3, and SE Visible Agency is €355 for 1,000 prompts and about 180,000 answers a month. AIclicks Pro and Picked Growth also include articles: 15 and 10 a month.

## How are AI visibility tools priced?

Almost every tool sells prompts, then limits them by one or more of five other things. Knowing which ones a plan uses tells you where the bill grows.

- **Per prompt.** The base unit nearly everywhere: Peec AI, Otterly.AI, SE Visible, Semrush, HubSpot, AIclicks, Writesonic, Scrunch, Goodie, Gauge and Picked all sell a prompt allowance.
- **Per AI model.** Either a fixed number you choose (3 on Peec AI, 2, 3 or 4 on Picked, 3 to 6 on AIclicks) or add-ons on top of a fixed set (Otterly.AI, and Peec AI for a fourth model).
- **Per answer or credit.** AthenaHQ sells credits, 1 credit per answer. Scrunch caps responses a month, Ahrefs sells checks. Here the prompt count matters less than the cap.
- **Per location.** SE Visible counts each location as a separate prompt, so one prompt tracked in 3 countries uses 3. Peec AI and Otterly.AI don't charge for countries. Picked asks from the US only.
- **Per seat.** Semrush charges $99 a month for each extra user of its toolkit. Writesonic Starter has 1 user, Gauge 3 seats, Scrunch 5. Peec AI, Otterly.AI, SE Visible, AthenaHQ, Goodie, Profound and Picked include unlimited seats.
- **Per brand.** Semrush prices its toolkit per domain. Peec AI and Picked allow 1, 2 or 5 projects by plan; SE Visible 5, 10 or 30.

Per-seat pricing is a tax on agencies. An agency's AI visibility work touches account managers, writers, the SEO lead and the client. Charge per login and people share a password or stay out of the tool. Pay for prompts and models: those are what cost the vendor money.

## What doesn't the price show?

Five things move the real bill, and none is in the headline number.

1. **The model you need may be an add-on.** Otterly.AI's Lite plan covers ChatGPT, AI Overviews, Perplexity and Copilot. Gemini and AI Mode are €9 a month each on Lite, Claude €29, so adding Claude alone doubles the plan. On [Peec AI](https://peec.ai/pricing), one more model is €25 a month on Starter, €55 on Pro and €115 on Advanced, billed annually.
2. **Answers can be capped below the prompts.** Scrunch Core has 125 prompts on 4 models but 5,000 responses a month ([Scrunch pricing](https://scrunch.com/pricing/)). Asked daily on every model, 125 prompts would need 15,000. So most prompts can't run every day on every model.
3. **Locations count as prompts.** [SE Visible's FAQ](https://visible.seranking.com/pricing/) says each location is a separate tracked prompt, and Basic includes one location per project. Selling in three countries triples what you need.
4. **Some models are API answers.** Peec AI marks Claude, Grok, DeepSeek and others "API" on Enterprise; AIclicks marks Claude, Perplexity, Grok and four more "API" on every plan; SE Visible says it asks Claude "directly without web search". An API answer isn't what a person sees in the app, so ask which of your models is which before you pay for them.
5. **Prices move.** In 18 days, 3 of the 14 tools we re-checked changed their plans. The next section has what changed.

## What changed in October 2026?

We read most of these pages on October 10, 2026, then again on October 28. Three vendors changed their plans in between.

| Tool | October 10 | October 28 |
| --- | --- | --- |
| SE Visible | Basic $99, 200 prompts, about 30,000 answers, 3 projects | Basic €80 (75 prompts), Core €169 (200 prompts, about 30,000 answers, 10 projects), Agency €355 (1,000 prompts) |
| Goodie | Core $399, 120 prompts, 5 seats | Core $295, 110 prompts, unlimited seats |
| Gauge | Growth $599, 108,000 answers, 6 AI platforms, 5 seats | Growth $599, 54,000 answers, 3 AI platforms, 3 seats |

Gauge's is the one to notice: the same $599, half the answers, so its cost per 1,000 went from about $5.50 to about $11. A comparison that lists only plan prices misses changes like that. The other 11 kept their plans: Peec AI, Otterly.AI, Semrush, Scrunch, HubSpot AEO, Writesonic, Surfer, AthenaHQ and Profound since October 10, AIclicks and LLMrefs since October 25.

## How do I work out what I need?

1. **Count your prompts.** The questions your buyers ask before they know your name, per product and per market. Ten good prompts per brand is a fair start; an agency multiplies by clients.
2. **Pick the AI models your buyers use.** Two is enough to start. Every tool here tracks ChatGPT, so start there, then add Google AI Overviews if your buyers search Google, or Perplexity, Gemini or Claude if they use those apps.
3. **Multiply.** Prompts × models × 30 days. Fifty prompts on 3 models, daily, is 4,500 answers a month.
4. **Find the plans that cover it.** Use the vendor's answer figure where it gives one, and check the cap, the locations and the seats from the list above.
5. **Divide.** Price by answers, times 1,000. Then decide whether the articles or audits in a bundle are worth the difference.

Daily matters more than it looks. AI answers change from one asking to the next: in our own ChatGPT answers, fewer than half the pages cited for a question one day were cited again the next. A weekly check sees a fraction of that.

## Is there a free AI visibility tool?

A few free plans, each with a limit, and many trials. AthenaHQ's Essential plan is free with $25 of credit (300 answers) on five models. Profound's trial runs 50 prompts daily for 7 days on ChatGPT, Gemini and AI Overviews. Trials: SE Visible 10 days, Scrunch, Goodie and LLMrefs 7 days, AIclicks 3 days with a card, Writesonic with no card, and Otterly.AI, Peec AI and HubSpot AEO.

Picked has no trial. Its [free AI visibility checker](https://picked.so/free-ai-visibility-checker) asks ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews two of your buyers' questions with no account, and the first payment can be refunded within 3 days.

## When you don't need to pay for one

If you only want to know where you stand today, ask ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity your buyers' question and write down who they name. That's free. If your buyers don't ask AI assistants what to buy, a local trade that sells by phone for instance, put the money into local SEO. And no plan at any price buys a mention: these tools measure what the models say. They don't control it.

## Where Picked fits

Picked is an [AI visibility tool](https://picked.so/) for SEO and marketing agencies and B2B SaaS teams. It tracks six AI models (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode) and each plan asks 2, 3 or 4 of them your prompts every day, Claude less often. Plans run from $89 to $499 a month with unlimited seats, and from Growth up, Picked writes the article for a prompt you lose as a pull request on your site. It isn't the cheapest per answer: SE Visible, Gauge and AIclicks beat it on that column. Every plan is on the [pricing page](https://picked.so/pricing); for a feature-by-feature view, [compare Picked with Peec AI](https://picked.so/vs/peec-ai) or read [the best AI visibility tools by use case](https://picked.so/blog/best-ai-visibility-tools).

## How we checked these prices

- **Prices, prompts, AI models, seats and trials:** each vendor's own pricing page, read on October 28, 2026, monthly billing. Our browser was in Europe, so Peec AI, Otterly.AI, SE Visible, Surfer and LLMrefs showed euros. Peec AI, Otterly.AI and Surfer's dollar prices come from a US connection on October 10, and LLMrefs' on October 25; their euro prices were unchanged on October 28. SE Visible's new plans were only read in euros.
- **Ahrefs Brand Radar:** its Brand Radar page, read October 25, 2026. Picked: our own plans.
- **Answers a month:** the vendor's figure where it gives one (Peec AI, SE Visible, AIclicks, Scrunch, Gauge, Writesonic's "50 answers tracked daily", AthenaHQ's credits, Ahrefs' checks). Otherwise prompts × models on the plan × 30 days, marked with an asterisk.
- **October 10 figures:** the same pages, read for our [AEO tools comparison](https://picked.so/blog/aeo-tools).
- **Who wrote the other lists:** the three pricing comparisons ranking on Google for this search on October 28 were each written by an AI visibility vendor. So is this one: we make Picked, and it's in the tables at its own price.
- **Not tested:** we didn't buy these plans or compare the answers each tool returns. Left out for having no public price: AirOps, Conductor and Evertune.

## Frequently asked questions

### How much does an AI visibility tool cost?

Between $29 and $599 a month for the cheapest paid plan of the 16 tools here, on October 28, 2026, and custom for enterprise plans like Profound's. For one brand on two to four AI models, most plans in the table cost $50 to $300 a month. Compare the price per 1,000 answers, not the plan price.

### Why do AI visibility tools cost more than SEO tools?

A rank check reads one results page. A prompt check gets a full written answer from each AI model, every day, then reads which brands and pages it names. Fifty prompts on three models is 4,500 answers a month, each one paid for by the vendor. That's why plans sell prompts and models, not keywords.

### Do AI visibility tools charge per user?

Most don't. Peec AI, Otterly.AI, SE Visible, AthenaHQ, Goodie, Profound and Picked include unlimited seats. Semrush charges $99 a month for each extra user of its toolkit, Writesonic's Starter has 1 user, Gauge includes 3 seats and Scrunch 5. For an agency sharing reports with clients, seats can cost more than the prompts.

### How many prompts do I need?

Start with about ten per brand: the questions buyers ask before they know your name, one per product and use case. Multiply by markets if answers differ by country, and by clients if you're an agency. Fifty prompts covers one brand well; 150 covers a few products or clients.

### Is it better to pay per prompt or per answer?

Per answer is easier to compare, because it already includes the AI models and how often each prompt runs. Per prompt is easier to plan. Whichever a vendor uses, work out the other: answers a month divided into the price, times 1,000. Then check what the plan leaves out.

### Which AI visibility tool is cheapest?

By plan price, Otterly.AI at $29 a month. By price per 1,000 answers, SE Visible at about €7 on Basic and €5.60 on Core, then Gauge at about $11 and AIclicks at about $13. Cheapest isn't best: check that the plan covers the AI models your buyers use, in the app, not the API.
