The best AI visibility tools in 2026, compared by use case

PickedAI visibility tool

The best AI visibility tools in 2026 are Peec AI for SEO teams and agencies, Otterly.AI on a small budget, Profound for enterprise brands, SE Visible for the most daily answers per dollar, and Semrush or Ahrefs if you already pay for one of them. Entry plans run from $29 to $295 a month (vendor pricing pages, September 30, 2026).

We make one of these tools, Picked. It isn't on the list below and is mentioned once near the end. Every fact about the others comes from their own pricing pages, dated.

What an AI visibility tool does

An AI visibility tool asks ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Google's AI Overviews and other AI models the questions your buyers ask, on a schedule, and records three things: whether your brand is named, where in the answer, and which pages the answer cites. You'll also see them called GEO tools, AEO tools or LLM trackers. Same job.

A single answer tells you little, because the same question can get a different list tomorrow. The value is the count over weeks: out of all the answers to your prompts, what share name you, and whether that share moves after you change something.

What ChatGPT recommends when you ask it

Asking an AI model a buyer's question and recording who it names is what every tool on this list does, so we ran that check on this category. We asked the ChatGPT app (web search on, from the US) "What are the best AI visibility tools in 2026?" on September 30, 2026. It named six: Profound for enterprise, Peec AI for SEO teams and agencies, Otterly.AI for small teams, Scrunch AI for content teams, the Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit and Ahrefs Brand Radar for people already on those suites.

The same day we asked it which tool suits an agency that manages many clients. It picked Peec AI first and named the same six again, plus Rankscale.

Look at what it read to say that. Every page it cited for the first question was a "best AI visibility tools" list, and half of them are published by companies with an AI visibility tool of their own:

Page ChatGPT citedPublished byHas its own AI visibility tool
marqeable.comMarqeable, AI marketing softwareNo
dataforaisearch.comData for AI Search, free AI visibility auditsYes
baarely.comBaarely, an AI brand visibility monitorYes
wikiap.orgWikiAP, a reference site on GEO and AEONo
businessmcp.comBusinessMCP, business intelligence softwareNo
ayzeo.comAyzeo, AI visibility analyticsYes

The agency question cited seven lists, Baarely's among them again. So ChatGPT's shortlist is, to a large degree, the consensus of lists like this one. That's also how it works for your brand: the pages an AI reads before it answers decide who gets named.

Who writes the lists that rank

Of the top 9 Google results for "best AI visibility tools" (US, September 30, 2026), 5 are written by a company that sells an AI visibility tool and puts its own tool first: Profound, Frase, Analyze AI, Nightwatch and SE Ranking. That doesn't make their lists wrong, but read them knowing who wrote them. The list at number one, Zapier's, is by a publisher that doesn't sell one.

We sell one too, which is why ours isn't on this list.

The best AI visibility tools by use case

Best for SEO teams and agencies: Peec AI

Peec AI's Starter plan costs €85 a month for 50 prompts, checked daily on 3 models you choose from ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, AI Overviews, Microsoft Copilot, Gemini and Naver AI. Every plan has unlimited users. Pro is €205 a month for 150 prompts. Peec AI pricing

Two things set it apart. It shows the sources behind each answer and which of them name competitors, which is where most of the work starts. And its own table marks which models are read through the API rather than the app, so you know what you're measuring. ChatGPT named it first for agencies.

Watch for: three models on the entry plan. Check that the three your buyers use are the ones you can pick.

Best on a small budget: Otterly.AI

Otterly.AI's Lite plan costs $29 a month for 15 prompts, checked daily on ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot. Claude, Google AI Mode and Gemini are paid add-ons. Every plan has unlimited team members. Standard is $189 a month for 100 prompts, and extra prompts cost $99 per 100. Otterly pricing

Watch for: 15 prompts is a small sample. Read it as a direction, not a verdict, and move up before you report numbers to a client.

Best for enterprise brands: Profound

Profound's public offer is a free trial: 50 prompts, run daily for 7 days, on ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews. Paid plans are custom packages with no public price, covering more engines, agent analytics and team features for larger organisations. Profound pricing

Watch for: you buy through sales. Worth it when there's a team to act on the data every week; heavy for a single marketer.

Best for the most daily answers per dollar: SE Visible

SE Visible, SE Ranking's AI visibility tool, starts at $99 a month for 200 prompts and 3 projects on ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Mode, Perplexity and AI Overviews. SE Ranking puts that at about 30,000 answers analysed a month. There's a 10-day free trial. SE Visible pricing

Watch for: seats aren't stated on the pricing page. Ask before you add an agency team.

Best for Semrush users: Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit

Semrush sells AI visibility inside its "SEO + AI Search" plans. Starter costs $199 a month ($165.17 billed yearly) for 50 prompts tracked daily for one domain, next to 5 websites and 500 keywords of regular rank tracking. Pro+ is $299 for 100 prompts. There's a 7-day free trial. Semrush pricing

Watch for: the pricing page doesn't name the AI models covered, and extra users cost from $45 a month each.

Best for Ahrefs users: Ahrefs Brand Radar

Ahrefs tracks AI answers two ways. Custom prompts come with every paid Ahrefs plan: 5 prompts and 150 checks a month on Lite, 10 on Standard, 20 on Advanced, updated daily. More prompts are an add-on from $50 a month. Separately, the AI Visibility Index, from $199 a month, shows any brand's visibility across 448 million prompts modelled on real searches, with no setup. Ahrefs Brand Radar

Watch for: 5 prompts on Lite is a taste. The index is the stronger part, and it only helps once your brand already shows up in AI answers.

Best for brands that want audits too: Scrunch

Scrunch's Core plan costs $250 a month for 125 prompts and 5,000 answers a month on ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Copilot, with 5 user licences, 5 site audits a month and AI bot traffic. Enterprise covers 9 models, including Claude, Gemini and AI Mode. There's a 7-day free trial and separate pricing for agencies. Scrunch pricing

Watch for: 125 prompts on 4 models is 500 answers per full pass, so 5,000 answers a month is about one pass every three days, not daily.

Best for paying only for what you track: ZipTie

ZipTie prices by use: you pick the engines (ChatGPT, AI Overviews, Perplexity, AI Mode, Copilot, Bing's AI answers and Gemini), how many prompts, and whether each runs daily, weekly or monthly. The price follows how many engines you run, not which ones, and seats and projects are never billed. Presets start at $42.75 a month. AI Overviews checks also capture Google's top 10 organic results. The free trial is 7 days with 25 daily prompts. ZipTie pricing

Watch for: the price moves with every slider. Build the plan you need before comparing it with a flat plan.

Best for the most AI models on one plan: AthenaHQ

AthenaHQ's Starter plan costs $295 a month for 3,600 credits, where one credit is one AI answer, across 11 models including ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Overviews, AI Mode, Gemini, Claude, Copilot, Grok, DeepSeek, Meta AI and Mistral. Members are unlimited. A free plan comes with $25 of credit. AthenaHQ pricing

Watch for: 3,600 answers spread over 11 models goes quickly. 20 prompts on all 11, daily, would need 6,600.

Best for many prompts, weekly: LLMrefs

LLMrefs has one plan at $79 a month: 500 prompts, every AI engine it supports at no extra cost (ChatGPT, AI Overviews, AI Mode, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude, Grok, Copilot, Meta AI and DeepSeek), unlimited projects and team members, and CSV and API export. Reports refresh weekly. There's a 7-day free trial. LLMrefs pricing

Watch for: weekly. Fine for a monthly report; too slow to see whether last Tuesday's page changed anything.

Price per 1,000 answers

Plan names hide what you pay for. The unit is an answer: one prompt, asked once, on one model. Here's each entry plan in those terms, from the vendors' own numbers.

ToolEntry priceAnswers a monthPer 1,000 answers
SE Visible$99about 30,000 (stated)about $3.30
LLMrefs$79up to about 21,500 (500 prompts, 10 models, weekly)about $3.70
Otterly.AI$291,800 (15 prompts, 4 models, daily)about $16
Peec AI€854,500 (50 prompts, 3 models, daily)about €19
Scrunch$2505,000 (stated)$50
AthenaHQ$2953,600 (stated)about $82

Cheaper answers aren't automatically better value. What each tool does with an answer differs: source analysis, audits, recommendations, reports. But this is the number to compare first, and none of the three top-ranking lists we read works it out.

Picking one for an agency

An agency tracks many brands, so the entry plan's project limit matters as much as its prompts. From the same pricing pages (September 30, 2026):

ToolBrands or projects on the entry planUsers
Peec AI1 projectUnlimited
Otterly.AI1 workspaceUnlimited

ZipTieUnlimited projectsNever billed
LLMrefsUnlimited projectsUnlimited

One of the top 3 Google results, Profound's, is a list written for agencies, and ChatGPT picked Peec AI when we asked for an agency. If you run more than a handful of clients, price the plan that holds all of them, not the entry plan, and ask whether prompts are shared across clients or counted per project.

How to choose in three questions

  1. Which AI models do your buyers use? Start from those, then drop every tool whose plan at your budget doesn't include them.
  2. How many prompts do you need, how often? Ten good prompts per brand is a reasonable start; multiply by brands, models and days, and compare that with the answers each plan gives.
  3. What will you do with the number? If someone on the team will write pages or chase listings from it, pay for source analysis and daily checks. If it's a line in a monthly report, a weekly tool is enough.

What to check before you pay

  1. The app or the API. The ChatGPT your buyers use searches the web and has its own instructions; the API model often doesn't. Track the real app where you can. A tool that reads the API and calls it "ChatGPT" measures something your buyers never see. Peec labels which of its models are API-read; ask the others.
  2. How often. In our own tracking, fewer than half the pages ChatGPT cited for a question came back the next day (our ChatGPT citations study). A weekly check samples that noise; a daily one shows the trend.
  3. Which models on your plan. Several entry plans cap you at 3 or 4 models, and Claude, Gemini or AI Mode are often add-ons.
  4. What happens after the number. Some tools stop at a dashboard. Others show the pages cited instead of you, the prompts you lose and what to write. ChatGPT made the same split when we asked: tools that tell you whether you're visible, and tools that help you change it.
  5. Seats. Otterly, Peec, AthenaHQ, LLMrefs and ZipTie don't charge per user. On Semrush and Ahrefs a seat costs extra, which adds up for an agency.

For a spec-by-spec view of what each tracker covers, see LLM SEO tools compared.

When you don't need one

If your buyers don't ask AI assistants what to buy, skip it: a local trade that sells by phone gets more from local SEO. If you only want to know what ChatGPT says today, ask it; that's free. And no tool can promise you a mention. They measure what the models say. They don't control it.

Where Picked fits

Picked is an AI visibility tool for SEO and marketing agencies, and B2B SaaS teams. It asks your prompts every day on the AI models in your plan (Claude less often), shows the pages each answer cited, and on Growth and Scale writes the article for a prompt you lose, as a pull request on your site. Seats are unlimited and prices are on the pricing page. To see where you stand before you pick any tool, run the free AI visibility checker.

How we checked

  • Prices, prompts, models, frequency and seats: each vendor's own pricing page, read on September 30, 2026 (Peec AI on September 29, when its prices last rendered for us), monthly billing unless marked. "Not stated" means the page doesn't say.
  • Answers a month: the vendor's own figure where it gives one (SE Visible, Scrunch, AthenaHQ); otherwise prompts × models on the entry plan × checks a month.
  • ChatGPT's picks: two questions asked in the ChatGPT app with web search, from the US, on September 30, 2026, read through cloro. One run each; ask again and the list can change. Who publishes each cited page: its home page, read the same day.
  • Google results: the top 9 organic results for "best AI visibility tools", US, September 30, 2026.
  • Not tested: we didn't buy each plan and compare their answers side by side. This compares what each vendor states.

Frequently asked questions

What is an AI visibility tool?

A tool that asks AI models like ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity the questions your buyers ask, on a schedule, and records whether your brand is named, in what position, and which pages the answer cites. Over weeks it gives you a share of answers you can track, report and try to move.

How much do AI visibility tools cost?

Entry plans ran from $29 a month (Otterly.AI, 15 prompts) to $295 a month (AthenaHQ, 3,600 answers) on September 30, 2026, with Profound and other enterprise plans priced on request. Compare the number of answers each plan gives you, not the plan name.

Is there a free AI visibility tool?

Mostly trials: Profound 7 days, Scrunch 7 days, ZipTie 7 days, LLMrefs 7 days, SE Visible 10 days, and AthenaHQ has a free plan with $25 of credit. For a one-off look, free checkers ask a few questions once. Tracking over time is what the paid plans sell.

How are AI visibility tools different from SEO tools?

An SEO tool tracks your position in Google's list of links for a keyword. An AI visibility tool tracks whether a written answer names you, where, and which pages it cites. The answers change more from day to day, so these tools count across many runs instead of reporting one position.

Which AI models should I track?

The ones your buyers use. If you don't know yet, ChatGPT and Google's AI Overviews are covered by nearly every tool here, so they're where most start. Check that the models you need are on the plan you're buying, not sold as add-ons.

Do AI visibility tools fix anything?

Most don't. They show where you're missing and which pages the AI read instead. Some add recommendations, audits or content help. The fix is usually a page that answers the question better, or a listing on a page the AI already cites.
