How Picked works
Picked is an AI visibility tool for SEO and marketing agencies, and B2B SaaS teams. Every day it asks ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and Google's AI answers the questions your buyers ask, records which brands and pages they name, and writes the article built to become the source they quote. New here? Start with setting up your first project, or read on for what it all means.
You don't need to know SEO to follow these pages. If you can use Google, you can use Picked.
What it is
A few years ago, a buyer with a question typed it into Google and clicked one of ten links. Now many of them ask ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or Perplexity, and get one written answer that names two or three products. Google itself puts an AI answer above the links for many searches.
If your product isn't in that answer, the buyer never sees it. There is no second page to scroll to. That is what "AI visibility" means: how often an AI names you when someone asks the question you want to win.
Picked does four jobs:
| Job | What happens |
|---|---|
| Track | It asks the AI models your questions every day and counts how often they name you, and who they name instead. |
| Explain | It shows the pages each answer read and cited, so you can see why a competitor won. |
| Fix | It writes the article for a question you lose, and sends it to you to approve before anything goes live. |
| Watch | Once the article is live, the same question keeps running, so you can see whether the answers change. |
You can ask ChatGPT one question yourself, for free. Picked is for asking many of them every day, keeping the history and doing something about it. If you only want to see what ChatGPT says about you today, the free AI visibility checker works without an account.
Words you'll see
Six words make up the whole vocabulary. Everything else in the app is built from them.
| Word | What it means |
|---|---|
| Prompt | A question a buyer asks an AI, like "best tool to monitor subreddits for buying intent". It is the AI version of a keyword. |
| AI model | One of the assistants Picked asks: ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode. |
| Answer | What one model replied to one prompt on one day. The same prompt can get a different answer tomorrow, which is why Picked asks every day. |
| Mention | Your brand named in an answer. Picked also records where in the answer, first or fifth. |
| Citation | A page the answer links to as a source. An answer can name you without linking to you, or link to you without naming you. |
| Share | Out of all the answers to your prompts, the percentage that name you. This is the number to watch. |
Where things live
Picked has a company, and projects inside it. A company is your account: the plan, the billing and the team. A project is one brand you track, with its own prompts, competitors and dashboard. Agencies usually make one project per client. More on that in team, projects and plans.
| To do this | Read |
|---|---|
| Add your site, competitors and first prompts | Set up your first project |
| Find your way around the screens | The dashboard |
| Understand what the numbers say | Reading your results |
| See which AI crawlers open your pages | AI crawlers |
| Get an article written for a prompt you lose | Write the article |
| Add teammates or clients | Team, projects and plans |
When it is not for you
Picked is honest about where it doesn't help:
- You want a guarantee. Nobody can promise what a model will say tomorrow. Picked shows where you're missing, which pages the AI read instead, and helps you write a better page. That is all.
- You have no site or category yet. AI answers recommend things that exist on the web. Build and publish first.
- Your buyers don't ask AI. A local plumber, a walk-in trade, a niche where everyone buys by phone: classic local SEO pays better.
- You want a one-off screenshot. Ask ChatGPT yourself, it's free. Picked is for tracking it every day and acting on it.
